Network Information
|
 |
Marketwizz
has designed and implemented a new Network
Operations Center and has completed the upgrade
of our network connectivity to a fiber T3 link
connected to the Internet, backed by a Cisco
Router and Bay Networks Switches. Our production
network consists of a 100 megabit back plane. We
are now operational in our new state-of-the-art
Network Operations Center while it is undergoing
its final completion.
|
Server Design
|
Our current
standardized server design is built in-house
by our own systems engineers and network
staff. We use the same high-quality components,
from motherboards to SCSI hard drives to network
interface cards, which are currently available in
the industry. This standardization allows for
quick research and development of more capable,
higher performance systems design and
implementation, which minimizes downtime due to
the level of spare emergency components stored in
our facility.
|
We don't
waste time figuring out the "why"
of a failed system, until after we have analyzed
the situation and returned the hardware to an
online state, which minimizes our downtime. This
allows us to have the capability of returning a
failed system to its online production state within
90 minutes, of systems failure recognition.
This also allows faster development times for new
enhanced products and services, from inception to
delivery, for all of our clients through the use
of a CVS (current versioning system) tree, to
update all new utilities and services we provide
our clients with simultaneously.

Operating
System
|
FreeBSD
2.2.8
FreeBSD is a very flexible UNIX operating system
that maximizes uptime and system performance
levels which far surpass our expectations in
their design and implementation. This allows for
maximum current and future growth planning
capabilities, while maintaining plenty of
resources available to stabilize system
performance and efficiency.
|
FreeBSD is
the OS of preference for many of the most highly
trafficked sites on the Internet today, including:
Altavista, Hotmail, YAHOO!, and LinkExchange.
Walnut Creek CDROM runs its FTP server, which is
the world's largest and busiest, on
FreeBSD. The Walnut Creek server downloads 750GB
a day and can maintain 3,600 simultaneous
connections on a single 200 MHz Pentium Pro
machine with 1GB RAM and 500GB of RAID storage.
Windows NT
We also currently offer a Windows NT based
hosting service that includes Windows NT 4.0 and
all the Service Packs applied. This service also
includes IIS, ColdFusion capabilities, and ASP or
Active Server Pages.

Security
|
Our Network
and Systems Security is taken very seriously. Our
systems have daily security reviews and
are monitored 24 hours a day. Our current
Security Policies and Acceptable
Usage Policy
exist for the sole purpose of our customers and
high performance of our systems. The policies are
enforced on a system wide basis and we take them
very seriously so as to protect you, our client,
and the integrity of your data. We treat your
data as proprietary information and have designed
and implemented our security policies around this
theory.
|
 |
Our systems
undergo rigorous security checks, and have all
the latest official security patches and
enhancements currently available, along with a
few internal modifications to further enhance our
systems' security. We have a highly trained
security staff that monitors our systems and
networks, and reviews the newest security issues
that arise on a daily basis. We do this to
maintain our integrity in the industry so you can
feel rest assured that we are completely
confident in our system and network design.

24 Hour
Availability
|
Our NOC is
maintained 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with
in-house support staff that maintain 24 hour
access to the site. We have 4 Systems/Network
personnel that are on-call and available 24
hours a day, 7 days a week, in rotating
schedules, to maximize emergency response and
minimize systems/network downtime. Our systems
are monitored for connectivity and availability
every second of the day. We have our own CERT (Computer
Emergency Response Team) making for extremely
careful analysis and excellent response times to
maintain systems availability and uptime.
|
Scaleable
Performance
|
Our systems
are designed to be the highest performing in
design and capability, We have selected the most
stable Operating System, FreeBSD-2.2.8, for our
environment. It currently has the most stable,
robust TCP/IP stack available and is designed
around stability and performance under high loads.
Our systems are designed with performance and
scaleability in mind. This makes it almost
effortless to update, upgrade, and replace failed
system components if necessary.
|
Back-ups
|
Complete
backups of all customers current data are
conducted on a nightly basis and crc checked for
integrity and completeness. This means that we
keep a magnetic tape back-up of all your data
once a day to minimize loss due to systems
failure, which enables us to do a complete
restore with the correct integrity of your
current data. We also do a complete systems
backup once a week and on days that we have made
major changes to any of our production systems so
that we can maintain a proper high performance
working image, in case of systems failure. We
also maintain a rotating tape library and keep
complete current copies off-site in case of fire.
Our internal tape library is stored in a
fireproof safe to prevent destruction due to fire.

Redundancy
|
UPS, our
battery backup unit is currently manufactured by
Liebert, Inc., a forerunner in the UPS business
in the Computer/Network industry. We purchased
the best system available so as to maintain
continual clean power to the Network Operations
Center in case of failure by the local utility
company due to inclement weather, or
circumstances beyond their control. To provide
for maximum uptime, Our UPS system is backed up
by a gas fired generator that is connected to the
Network Operations Center power grid. This system
is also tested daily for availability.
|
On-site
Generator
|
We have, on
site and available, a complete turn-key fail over
gas generated back-up system connected to the
power grid of the Network Operations Center in
case of complete and total power failure. This
system is tested quarterly for availability.

New Network
Operations Center Build-Out
|
We have
completed the final phases of a major network
upgrade, to enhance our bandwidth capacity for
more efficient data throughput and future growth.
This includes the expansion of our offices to
include a newly designed state-of-the-art Network
Operations Center (NOC) Clean Room. Our current
design includes a OC-3 High Capacity Fiber
Rack, owned by Bell-Atlantic and installed
directly in our new NOC clean room. To complement
the network side of the build out our backbone
includes a Cisco Series 3640 Router. The NOC
itself is fire rated and the standard room
temperature for the facility is 65 degrees. All
of our servers are built to rigid specifications
and are installed in rack mount cases.
